Song of the Day: I Can’t Make It Another Day features the words and music of Lenny Kravitz, who recorded this song in a duet with Michael Jackson. It was originally slated to appear on Jackson‘s 2001 album “Invincible” but was dropped from the setlist. Kravitz recorded another version of it with Jay-Z, re-titled “Storm”, released in 2004. The original duet with MJ was finally released nearly 7 months after Jackson’s tragic death, which occurred on this date in 2009. It appears on the posthumous album, “Michael.” Jackson‘s music still resonates on the Broadway stage (“MJ The Musical“) and on screen (“Michael“). Kravitz later talked about the two songs he recorded with Jackson—including “Low“, which appeared on his 2018 album, “Raise Vibration“. He described working with Jackson as “the most amazing experience” he’d ever had in the studio. Check out this rare duet [YouTube link].
