Song of the Day: Three Spirituals [YouTube link] was orchestrated by composer and music educator Adolphus Hailstork, who turns 85 years old today. This work grows out of three traditional African American spiritual songs: “Everytime I Feel the Spirit“, “Kum Ba Yah“, and “Oh, Freedom“. This lyrical and celebratory 2005 work was dedicated to the reopening of the Crispus Attucks Theater in Norfolk, Virginia.
