Song of the Day: Mickey One (“Once Upon a Time”) [YouTube link], composed and arranged by Eddie Sauter for the 1965 neo noir crime flick, features the outstanding tenor saxophone soloist Stan Getz. These two remarkable artists had previously collaborated on the extraordinary 1961 orchestral jazz album, “Focus“. That album featured a lyrical track also entitled “Once Upon a Time“, which is another composition entirely! On this date in 1927, the great Stan Getz was born.
