Song of the Day: All My Tomorrows, music by Jimmy van Heusen, lyrics by Sammy Cahn, was first heard over the opening credits of the 1959 film, “A Hole in the Head,” sung by and starring Frank Sinatra, who was born on this date in 1915. Sinatra re-recorded the song for his 1961 album, “All the Way“, and again in 1969 for his album, “My Way.” Subtle differences can be heard in the three Sinatra renditions, each a treasure: the first, arranged by Nelson Riddle, from the opening of the 1959 film; the second, from 1961, also arranged and conducted by Nelson Riddle; and the third, from 1969, conducted by Don Costa [YouTube links]. Sinatra remains one of the singular voices of the twentieth century, a legacy that lives on.
