In a marathon see-saw “Wild” Card playoff game last night that lasted 4 hours and 50 minutes (the longest 9-inning game in major league baseball history, not counting 76 minutes of rain delays!), the Yanks beat the Cleveland Indians 10-9 in the ninth inning, advancing to the American League Division Playoff to face the Tampa Bay Rays next week. The Yanks may have beaten Cleveland 12-9 in game 1, and swept them in game 2, but they are facing a team next week that owned them in this shortened 60-game 2020 baseball season.
The Rays took 8 out of 10 games from the Yanks in the “regular” season, and they meet their rivals in the San Diego Bubble on Monday, October 5. I truly have no way of predicting what will happen—can anyone predict anything in 2020 at this point? But I’m obviously rooting for New York to advance to the American League Championship Series—and beyond!
Go Yanks!
