Song of the Day: Salad Days [YouTube link], composed by jazz pianist Jason Rebello, is only one of the featured tracks from the artist’s 2016 solo piano album, “Held“. Lyrical and expressive, the composition displays Rebello‘s technical savvy and harmonic and melodic sense. I only recently discovered the classically trained pianist’s music, having heard a snippet of his playing as background on an “American Masters” documentary on Bella Abzug! He’s also known for having toured with both Sting and Jeff Beck. Having written to Rebello, I was delighted to have heard back from him the other day. Today is the artist’s 57th birthday, and I’m glad to have found his music.
