Song of the Day: I Realize Now, words and music by Stanley Cowan and Sid Miller, was recorded in March 1944 by the Nat King Cole Trio, with Oscar Moore on guitar and Johnny Miller on bass. The great Nat King Cole was born on this St. Patrick’s Day in 1919. Cole may not have been Irish, but he performed to wildly appreciative audiences at Dublin’s Theatre Royal in April 1954. Till this day, his music can be heard in many Dublin venues. As a distinctive vocalist and talented pianist, he was a truly legendary performer. Check out this rare and sensitive ballad, which I first discovered by chance many years ago while going through my mother’s 78 rpm record collection [YouTube link]. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
