Song of the Day: Say Liza (“Liza with a ‘Z’”), words and music by John Kander and Fred Ebb, was first heard in the 1972 concert film of the same name, directed and choreographed by Bob Fosse. It is a signature tune of the talented, multi-faceted actress, singer, and dancer Liza Minnelli, who turns 80 years old today. I’ve featured many classic songs from Liza through the years, and I’ve enjoyed her performances in many of her movies—from “Cabaret” to “Arthur“. The daughter of Hollywood legends, Judy Garland and director Vincente Minnelli, she certainly carved out a uniquely remarkable career.
