I’m Home

After two emergency surgeries, 31 days in the hospital, and 17 days in a subacute rehabilitation facility, I’m home—and will be sleeping in my own bed for the first time since the night of October 2.

Recovery is a long-term project. But with the love and support of family and friends, I’m confident I’ll make it through. I went to the emergency room on October 3 with outdoor temperatures in the 70s and 80s and only a hint of color in the early autumn leaves. I return home to temperatures in the 30s and 40s and Brooklyn has already had its fall peak with few leaves left on the trees. But I’m happy to have rediscovered my picture window … so nice to come home to, indeed.

Home Sweet Home

Postscript (21 November 2025): I am so deeply moved by the outpouring of love and good will. I have been inundated with personal messages as well; many folks are wondering exactly what I went through over these seven weeks. I’ll try not to get too clinical, but will write more about it next week, for reasons that will become even more apparent.

For now, just know that I am hanging in and doing the best that I can to keep myself moving forward. But one thing is certain: Boy did it feel great sleeping in my own bed and waking up in my room!

Love to all! ❤
