Song of the Day: It Had to Be You, music by Isham Jones, lyrics by Gus Kahn, was first released in 1924 and since become one of the classic standards of the Great American Songbook. First up in our August birthdays is Tony Bennett (no relation to Cody), born on this date in 1926. He recorded this song for his 1964 album, “When Lights Are Low,” featuring the Ralph Sharon Trio. Though he died in July 2023 at the age of 96, his musical legacy is broad and deep. Check out this rendition [YouTube link].
