Song of the Day: Past Due Blues [YouTube link], words and music by singer-songwriter Cody John Bennett, was released two months ago today. Cody hails from the Florida Panhandle. We’ve been Facebook pals for a long time, but I haven’t had a chance to highlight his growing music catalogue. This gritty, bluesy song, with its angsty lyrics, appears on Cody’s latest EP, “Last Good Habit.” Cody delivers the soulful vocals and plays organ. Tyler James Arnold is featured on guitar, Jake Spillers on electric bass guitar, and John Zahasky on drums. Cody is working on his first full-length album and I look forward to its release before too long. He’ll be performing at the Muscle Shoals Songwriters Festival and the Panama City Songwriters Festival, both in November!
