Song of the Day: It Might Be You, music by Dave Grusin, lyrics by Alan and Marilyn Bergman, was an Academy Award-nominated “Best Original Song” from the 1982 film, “Tootsie,” directed by Sydney Pollack, and starring Dustin Hoffman. Alan’s wife Marilyn Bergman died back in 2022. Last night, Alan, the other half of that Oscar-winning songwriting duo, died at the age of 99. I must admit it was difficult finding a song featuring the contributions of the Bergmans, given that I’ve included countless songs adorned by their lyrical gifts. Winners of the Johnny Mercer Award in the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1997, they’ve left behind a grand musical legacy. Sung by Stephen Bishop, this is one of the Bergmans’ memorable songs [YouTube link].
