Song of the Day: See You Later, Alligator features the words and music of Bobby Charles, aka Robert Guidry, who shares the same surname as Louisiana Lightning (Yankee pitching great, Ron Guidry, for those not in the know). This song was a Top Ten Hit for Bill Haley & His Comets in 1956 on both the Hot 100 and R&B charts. (The song title was a catchphrase of my sister’s, so it retains a certain poignancy.) Today marks the Centennial Anniversary of the birth of a true rock pioneer: Bill Haley. Check out this early Bill Haley video version of the song [YouTube link].
