Song of the Day: Sweet Freedom, words and music by Rod Temperton, was a Top Ten hit for Michael McDonald, which was originally featured on the soundtrack to the 1986 film, “Running Scared.” “Shine Sweet Freedom, Shine Your Light On Me” is a fittingly prayerful phrase for this Independence Day in particular. And Joey Chestnut, who was barred from last year’s event, is back this year to compete in the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest! The Snowman is back too alongside a Betsy Ross flag! Update #1: Miki Sudo won the Women’s Title for the eleventh time in the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, with 33 hot dogs and buns to her credit. Joey Chestnut consumed 70.5 hot dogs and buns and took back the Men’s Title Mustard Belt today, after missing last year’s contest. The 17-time Hot Dog Champ reigns supreme again!
Update #2: The Mets won today’s game at Citi Field, beating the Yankees 6-5.
