Song of the Day: Summer Madness [YouTube link] was composed by Robert “Spike” Mickens, Alton Taylor, and the other members of Kool & the Gang. This song is Oh So Kool. Released in 1974 on their album,”Light of Worlds,” it has been sampled countless times; some sources estimate that the song has been sampled in 274 other recordings, making it one of the most influential R&B tracks ever released. In 2024, Kool & the Gang was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. As an added bonus, check out the band’s 2024 Hall of Fame Medley Performance [YouTube link].
