The Carl Barry Trio

Today, I’ve uploaded onto YouTube three selections from The Carl Barry Trio. These are studio recordings featuring my brother, guitarist Carl Barry, along with bassist Steve LaSpina and drummer Eliot Zigmund.

Steve LaSpina is a superb bassist who has played with many great jazz musicians—from Chet Baker, Marian McPartland, Zoot Sims, and Stan Getz to Toots Thielemans, Jim Hall, Pat Martino, and Tommy Flanagan. Eliot Zigmund is a phenomenal drummer who has performed with Jim Hall, Chet Baker, Stan Getz, and Fred Hersch, among others, while also recording sessions with Neil Sedaka, Dionne Warwick, and The Pointer Sisters. Among his most well-known engagements are those recorded with the legendary pianist Bill Evans.

Here, Carl, Steve, and Eliot play these classic jazz standards:

  1. Nardis (Miles Davis)
  2. But Beautiful (Jimmy Van Heusen / Johnny Burke)
  3. My Funny Valentine (Richard Rodgers / Lorenz Hart)

Enjoy!
