Sometimes, life throws you lots of curveballs. But it’s never too crazy to forget about baseball.
Congratulations to the feisty New York Mets who clinched their series against the Phillies and who will open in Los Angeles tonight against the Dodgers, vying for the National League Pennant. And congratulations to the New York Yankees, who clinched their series against the Kansas City Royals. They will be playing against the Cleveland Guardians for the American League Pennant. The first game of that series will be held at The Stadium on Monday.
Can a Subway Series be in the offing? Time will tell. Of course, if the Mets face the Yankees—whom they beat four times this year in interleague play—all bets are off. Pinstripes all the way! For now, let’s go New York!

Postscript (14 October 2024): I was able to see the Mets even their series up, but then a real screw-up with my TV happened… and I had to turn on the radio. JOHN STERLING is doing the play-by-play, Yankee fans! Yay!
I was unaware of this… but it’s so great to hear him again!
Postscript (19 October 2024): “The Yankees Win! Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankees Win!” They take their 41st American League Pennant and move on to the World Series! And Giancarlo Stanton, who was terrific, gets the ALCS MVP! Now, Let’s Go Mets! Either way, the Yanks have their work cut out for them. The Dodgers are very formidable and the Mets kicked their butts during the season’s interleague games. We’ll see!
