On this date in 1929, writer Barbara Branden was born. In 1950, she and her future husband, Nathaniel Branden, met the novelist and philosopher Ayn Rand for the first time. Barbara was a part of Rand’s inner circle for nearly two decades and was a frequent lecturer for the Nathaniel Branden Institute (NBI). Long after her departure from the Objectivist movement, she published the first comprehensive biography of Ayn Rand.
